The House Of The Lord - Verse of the Day : Now David said, "Solomon, my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries, I will now make preparation for it." The House Of The Lord

When you have decided to put God the number one priority in your life, the house of the Lord becomes the first house that you will consider. All your decisions should be made with the house of the Lord in the equation of your consideration.

King David loved God so much that he wanted to build God a great house, a great temple for the Lord. Althought God cannot be contained in a building made with natural materials and the work of men, He will nonetheless dwell in the building which His people lovingly construct for Him.

The temple of God is the earthly manifestation of God's greatness and goodness. It is the sign of the type of God He is in a community.

David said, "The house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries" (1 Chr. 22:5). The house of the Lord must not be shabby or else people in the community will think less highly of the Lord we serve. It must be awe-inspiring.

The highest point of Solomon's temple was 20-storey high. Many parts of the temple was overlaid with pure gold. About 3,300 officials were appointed to supervise the temple's construction.

Someone once estimated that if each of the builders were paid only US$1.00 a day, the temple would have cost US$28 billion. The temple was so great and magnificent that when the Queen of Sheba saw it, she was completely breathless (1 Kin. 10:4-5).

David prepared the materials needed for the house of the Lord in such abundance that the stones, wood and iron were "beyond measure" (1 Chr. 22:14). The gold, silver and bronze had "no limit" (22:16). Out of David's own pocket, he contributed anywhere from US$2 billion to US$5 billion for the construction of the house of the Lord.

David's love for God was so great that by public exhortation and personal example, he challenged all the people of Israel to to give substantially and generously to the building work. David then encouraged them as they got ready to "arise and build" (22:19):

(1) Remember who God is. David reminded his people: "Is not the LORD your God with you?" (22:18).

(2) Remember what God has done. David reminded them again: "And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people" (22:18).

(3) Pray to God for the way to contribute. David said, "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God" (22:19).

If you would do these three things that the people of Israel did out of their love for God, the Holy Spirit will start to lead you to give and contribute greatly to your church.
